On The Record (Player) Friday Vol. 1.3

It’s been a while (life happens), but here at Tallon & Co, we love to kick off the weekend with great tunes in the background. Welcome back to On The Record (Player) Friday, where we share a record that’s been stuck in our heads and on repeat.

If you’re hunting for a fresh soundtrack this weekend, give Bones by Rainbow Kitten Surprise a listen. In our opinion, their most impressive album to date featuring what we’ve grown to love with just a little new to surprise us.

RKS – Bones

This week’s pick

Bones By Rainbow Kitten Surprise

If you’re hunting for a fresh listen going into the weekend, give bones a full front-to-back listen. Rainbow Kitten Surprise’s 2025 release is a tight 10-track ride, but it packs a ton of groove into it’s short 35-minute run time.

We’ve had bones on repeat since release day, and it’s everything that’s perfect (in our minds) about RKS. Working again with producer Jay Joyce, the band continues to release albums full of unique love stories, thoughtful nostalgia, and more than a few regretful breakup songs. However, they always do it to a tune that you can sing along with.

Go on a run or just take a Sunday drive, but make sure it’s a full 35 minutes because this album deserves the full listen.

OUR FAVS

Dang, let’s go Dang. It’s hard to pick a favorite on this album, but this song is just a dream in sound. It’s written in a riddle and gives one of the provides some of the best guitar riffs since Seven+Mary.

King, which immediately follows Dang, is another favorite because of it’s piano intro and build. As the closer, Tropics is the longest song on the album at 4:53 and also the perfect ending touch to the nostalgia/regret vibe paradox when it comes to break ups, past loves, and romance in general.

Our view from an RKS show at Tabernacle – circa 2019

Closing Thoughts

Bones is a sick album. It’s that easy. This is everything that makes Rainbow Kitten Surprise special to us into one package that is on repeat. If you’re after a weekend soundtrack to sing along with and really feel something, bones is your go-to this weekend.

We’ll be back soon with another record that’s been inspiring us here at Tallon & Co. Until then, enjoy the music and check out our playlist.

Cheers,

Tallon & Co.
