On The Record (Player) Friday Vol. 1.2
Here at Tallon & Co, we love to kick off the weekend with great tunes in the background. Welcome back to On The Record (Player) Friday, where each week we share a record that’s been stuck in our heads and on repeat.
If you’re hunting for a fresh soundtrack this weekend, give Better Now a front-to-back spin. Whether you’ve been with Wild Rivers for years or you’re just meeting them, this EP is a gentle reminder that good music makes every moment a little better.
We’ll be back next week with another record that’s been inspiring us here at Tallon & Co. Until then, enjoy the music and check out our playlist—we’re constantly updating it with favorites old and new!
This week’s pick
Better Now By Wild Rivers
We were lucky enough to catch Wild Rivers at their Lollapalooza after show last week at Lincoln Hall, and since the moment they left the stage this EP (as well as the rest of their collection) has been on repeat. Better Now is everything we love about Wild Rivers: warm acoustics, insane dual vocals (Seriously, Devan Glover’s vocals are some of the best in the game and sound exactly the same in person), and some of the best storytelling on one of their albums to date.
Put it on for a sunrise coffee, a late-night unwind, or any time you want to just have a quick 30-minute relax session.
OUR FAVS
What Kind of Song is one of my favorite Wild Rivers’ songs since Wandering Child on their debut album. Much like Wandering Child, What Kind of Song kicks off the album with a bang. It is a reflective gem that leans into the band’s gift for restraint and release. It starts spare, just enough guitar and breathy harmony to pull you close, then blooms into a chorus that feels like a deep exhale.
What If It’s Us is also tender, late-night piano melody that gives the band’s vocals all the space they need to shine, and Simp Song feels like an anthem to anyone who has gotten that late-night call from a former love and fought with whether to answer or simply let it go to voicemail and hope you don’t question that decision forever.

Closing Thoughts
Better Now captures all the best parts of Wild Rivers in a small package. It has timeless songwriting with a modern glow, thoughtful but easygoing melodies, and it’s a classic and simple emotion-driven indie EP. If you’re hunting for a fresh soundtrack this weekend, give Better Now a spin. Whether you’ve been with Wild Rivers for years or you’re just meeting them, this EP is a gentle reminder that good music makes even bad moments a little better.
We’ll be back next week with another record that’s been inspiring us here at Tallon & Co. Until then, enjoy the music and check out our playlist—we’re constantly updating it with favorites old and new!
Cheers,
